Prof Dr. Altaf Hussain, is currently the Head of Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, affiliated to SZAB Medical University.
Dr. Hussain graduated from Khyber Medical College, Peshawer, KPK in 1999 and then he completed his postgraduate training in the Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery department, at PIMS Islamabad between 2001- 2003 and did his fellowship FCPS and membership degree MCPS in 2004 and appointed as senior registrar in the same Department. Since then he has been actively participating in the head and neck cancer surgery and oncology team and served in multiple roles within PIMS and SZAB Medical University. In 2018 he was promoted to Associate Professor and in February 2020 appointed as Head of the Department.
Dr. Hussain was entrusted by the position of Professor of ENT & HNS in November 2021.
Dr. Hussain’s academic focus is on dealing with patients having head and neck cancer and to achieve best oncology based outcomes, as well as to add up in research in dealing with head and neck tumors with particular focus on outcome related with organ preservation in all Head and neck surgeries.
Dr. Hussain has over 30 national and international publications on his credit .
His aims are to enhance the level of his department to the state of the art department of ENT & HNS in the capital of Pakistan and to deliver top class services and treatment to all those patients who are not being treated else where in the of the country, as well as to impart a high level of training and skills to the junior doctors.
Prof Dr. Tallat Najeeb, graduated from Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore, is a renowned ENT specialist and Head and Neck surgeon in Islamabad. Her qualifications are MBBS, FCPS , MCPS ( Pak) FICS ( USA)
She has 29 years of teaching and clinical experience. She has worked in many reputable setups such as PIMS, Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, PAF Hospital Sargodha, POF Hospital Wah Cantt., Social Security Hospital Islamabad and Islamabad Medical and Dental College. She is currently working as a Professor and HOD in ENT department at Fazaia Medical College Islamabad and allied PAF Hospital Islamabad since 2017. Her students have specialized in various fields in Pakistan and abroad. She is also practicing at Maroof International Hospital Islamabad for the last 13 years . She has performed numerous surgeries and has a great collection of research work. She has more than 25 publications and has attended more than 60 surgical and teaching workshops. She is also a supervisor and examiner in CPSP.
Dr. Jawwad Ahmad, is currentlyHead, CDA Cochlear Implant centre, Centre for Ear Disease, Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Capital Hospital, affiliated to The SZAB Medical University, Islamabad.
Dr. Ahmad attended Rawalpindi Medical College, Rawalpindi Now(RMU) and completed his training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, at Pakistan Institute of Medical sciences, Islamabad in 2003. He completed fellowship in Otology at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland.
Dr Ahmad established first ever Auditory implant Centre of country in Capital hospital. This is the biggest such facility in public sector.
Dr Ahmad academic focus is on otology especially Implantation otology including outcomes based research in deafness with particular focus on outcome related to Hearing preservation techniques.
Dr Ahmad has been a member of several university / medical board committees for improvement of teaching and medical services. Dr Ahmad has been involved in teaching and research in the field of otology and has published 25 articles pertinent to his field. He has also participated in several national, regional and international meetings and workshops and is an active member of several medical societies.

Dr Ansari completed his training (CCST) in West of Scotland in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery. He has not only worked in various academic and clinical units in UK but also trained in the busy head and neck unit in Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa with Prof Johan Fagan. He has worked as Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Scotland, UK.
Dr Ansari is a recognised trainer for medical students, general practitioners, ENT / Head and Neck Trainees, dental students, speech and language therapists. He has delivered lectures in Glasgow University and was clinical and educational supervisor for Head and Neck and ENT / FRCS UK trainees.
He is also a tutor in basic and advance ENT skills and dissection courses / workshops and generic skills workshops for communication, organization, and leadership. These courses are Royal College of Surgeon’s endorsed and organised.
He strongly believes in continuing professional development and clinical governance especially effectiveness, risk management, research and audits. He actively participates in conferences, courses and meetings to facilitate further development in ENT and head and neck practice. He is a member of ENT (UK), ENT (Scotland), British Association for Endocrine and Thyroid Surgery (BAETS), British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO) and British Laryngeal Associated (BLA).
Dr. Muhammad Atif sharif is Islamabad based otolaryngologist with special interest in Rhinology and Otology. He practices as consultant in NESCOM hospital, Islamabad.
Dr. Sharif did his MBBS in 1997 and completed otolaryngology residency from Pakistan institute of medical sciences in 2003.
He Started his carrier in Fouji Foundation hospital as Assistant Professor and then joined NESCOM in 2005 as Consultant ENT.
His clinical research interests include fungal sinusitis management and has published 8 articles in different Research Journals.
Dr. Muhammad Yasir khan is Islamabad based otolaryngologist with special interest in Rhinology and ENT Laser Surgeries. He practices as consultant in KRL hospital, Islamabad.
Dr. Khan did his MBBS in 1998 and completed otolaryngology residency from Pakistan institute of medical sciences in 2004. Dr. Yasir trained under Dr. Sarwar khan, a pioneer in endoscopic rhinology and use of lasers for ENT pathologies in Pakistan.
Dr. Khan is also an associate professor in Fazaia medical college and contributes in teaching and training of medical students and ENT Residents.
His clinical research interests include laryngeal papillomatosis management options, endolaryngeal laser treatment of tracheal stenosis and fungal sinusitis management.
