Introduction
The 7th Islamabad Courses of ENT (ICE) was held from 4th to 10th October 2025 at the Higher Skills Lab, MCH Training Centre, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, featuring advanced cadaveric dissections, live surgery, and focused masterclasses in otology, rhinology, skull base surgery, aesthetic rhinoplasty, and head & neck surgery. The academic program benefited residents, fellows, and consultants from ENT, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, and OMFS departments, aiming to enhance their surgical skills through structured, hands-on training in a state-of-the-art environment.
The inaugural ceremony of the 7th Islamabad Courses of ENT (ICE) was held on 6th October 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in Kehkashan Hall–I, Serena Hotel, Islamabad. The inauguration brought together national and international experts, faculty, and trainees, showcasing Pakistan’s growing role as a regional hub for advanced ENT surgical training.
During the inaugural ceremony, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) conferred the title of International Adjunct Faculty on:
- Prof. Dr. Gunesh P. Rajan (Luzerner Kantonsspital & University of Lucerne, Switzerland) for his leadership in endoscopic ear and sinus surgery education.
- Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal J. Khan (United Kingdom) for pioneering contributions in cochlear implant surgery and complex ear reconstruction,
advancing otologic surgery in Pakistan.
The honours were presented by Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq, Vice Chancellor, SZABMU, with H.E. Mr. George Steiner, Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan, as Guest of Honour.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq highlighted that this conferment reflects SZABMU’s vision of combining clinical excellence with global academic partnerships, especially in rapidly evolving ENT surgery using cadaveric training.
Prof. Dr. Altaf Hussain, Chairman Islamabad Cadaveric ENT Course and Head of ENT, PIMS, noted that the course has grown into one of the leading regional surgical training initiatives, with participation from experts from Malaysia, Switzerland, UK, UAE, KSA, and Turkey, showcasing the growing global stature of SZABMU and PIMS in surgical education.
